NSCI membership, and how to join
The NSCI is always interested in hearing from therapists. Our aim is to have one acupuncturist and two hypnotherapists (one male and one female) in each area.
Please understand that the Institute is NOT a directory or referral service. Members work with us as a team to provide therapy to smokers, and therefore the therapists we are looking for are expected to have a serious interest in smoking cessation, and a willingness to work co-operatively.
If you decide to apply for membership, we will check that you have sufficient experience with smokers, and that you belong to a reputable British hypnotherapy association or, in the case of acupuncturists, the BAcC. If you are accepted, we will create a branch page for you on our website like those you have probably seen, and actively promote your branch through our site as well as directories such as Yell and Thomson Local.
On joining, hypnotherapists (but not acupuncturists) are required to complete the Institute's study module (which is not arduous or particularly time-consuming; its purpose is to help you to understand the research we do and how to apply it to your work).
We do not ask member therapists to work in any particular way, but we do monitor the work of our members with our clients / patients to ensure a high standard is being maintained.
There is a nominal subscription for membership. We are a not-for-profit co-operative, and membership is not a financial issue for us.
